Film Archive

Key to our mission is building and preserving film history; in our case a growing archive of over 500 movies and short subjects. Our collection began with the donation of over 200 important films from Juris Ubans, Professor Emeritus, University of Southern Maine. Professor Ubans taught film for many years as a member of the Art faculty. Further donations from Queens College, (JHU-MICA (Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and Maryland Institute College of Art), and Minnesota State University bring our current holdings to over 1000 reels of film.

What’s Up

As per the earlier share about Alice Guy-Blaché: The doc "Be Natural" is about the earlier filmmaker.

Raymond Chandler has a credit, for writing the screenplay, for STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, but Alfred Hitchcock disagreed with pretty much everything about what would become the finished film, and Chandler's work was not used. Chandler's name was kept by the studio as a selling point. Kinonik is showing STRANGERS ON A TRAIN at SPACE on Monday, Feb. 3 at 7 PM. Want tickets?
